Featured: The Sun Blindness - Like Pearly Clouds (Sensory Projects)
Tor and Duncan met working the late shift in a Melbourne supermarket in late 2004. Sharing a love of psychedelic music and culture, they began to play and write together in the early mornings. With two electric guitars, heavily used delay pedals and their belief in the felt presence of immediate experience, love, wonder, epiphany and the creative expression of such, The Sun Blindness were formed.
Under the influence of local mushrooms, they ended up on the beach after the 2006 Sorrento Music Festival and decided to record an album. Lacking funds or a label, but full of psychedelic enthusiasm, they recorded at home on a collection of 4 track machines and old mixing boards.
Home made copies of the recordings were circulated, and stumbled across on-line by the legendary Kramer, who offered to re-master the album. The result was picked up by Sensory Projects who recognised that within their druggy, melodic songs and droning, hypnotic meanderings, everything is imminent, everything comes right. The Sun Blindness are a transparent dream beneath an occasional sigh.

Timbreland Recordings is a Manchester U.K. based independent record label, which focuses on releasing music primarily with an alt.country/ acid folk/ electronica/ experimental vibe.
Timbreland Recordings is a loose affiliation of bands, singers, musicians andsongwriters scattered around the North West and Scotland. The common thread that runs through all is a love for creating music and an unpretentious desire to play it to others.
From shuffling, country drone and post-folk to understated acoustic fumbling and sleepily endearing psychedelia, all of the artists invovled represent a true snapshot of current musical endeavour aside from the mainstream.
The impressive roster includes new folk luminaries Starless And Bible Black and Nancy Elizabeth Cunliffe, avant-folksters The Winter Journey and The Wisemen, Fence Collective's Little Pebble and newcomers like Sally Murray and I Am Your Autopilot.
Sideways Through Sound has rounded up the back catalogue and harrassed the lovely Timbreland Folk for new releases. An assortment of these sparkling gems of aural joy will be played on next weeks show 17th November 2008.

California - 14 days on (and off) the road (16/10 - 31/10)
Despite numerous treasures found in the small mountain of parcels delivered (and gratefully received!!) in his absence over the last 5 weeks, next weeks show (10th November) will be dedicated to the amazing sounds which accompanied Thee Sonic Assassin on his recent adventures in California.
Unsurprisingly the selection is not necessarily what may be considered classic driving music, but rest assured the sounds you will hear are perfect for being on any kind of long, strange trip and, lucky for you, if you do lose concentration and drift away you won't almost drive off the edge of a cliff (it really happened, I was there!!)...
So the California special will be lovingly collated from several kilos of records and CD's acquired whilst travelling the length, breadth and depth of this breathtakingly beautiful corner of the world...

Featured: Dame Satan - Beaches & Bridges (Ghost Mansion)
The album Beaches and Bridges is a West Coast stew stirred by East Coast men. It contains fine folk traditions, space blankets, noisy blessings, and a few history lessons.
All messages and moods within were cooked up by human voices, words arranged in meaningful congress, acoustic and electric instruments and effects manipulated by band members; Andrew Simmons, Michael Chopko, Brendan Sheehan, and Greg Gheorghiu, as well as production techniques employed by Chief Engineer Nigel Pavao.
Since the album's completion and release, Gheorghiu left the band. The remaining members have since toured as a trio, often joined, on both East and West Coasts, by a cadre of supporting drummers, shredders, and key ticklers, and begun writing a fresh pile of deep cuts.
To the lysergically tickled ears of your host, Thee Sonic Assassin, Dame Satan are a truly genre defying entity, a rare treat these days. They deserve your unadulterated adulation and will be featured on the show next week, that's November the 3rd...
